Get Moving!

We have an active day scheduled for August 24, our get moving day! Healthy,  locally produced and prepared foods pairs well with exercise. We want to encourage you to walk, stroll, run, or bike to the market this week! Participate in several different workouts at the market:

  • 5:00pm Barre & Soul Melrose is offering a free yoga class
  • 6:15pm Janine Wright owner of Fitlife Melrose is leading a Fusion class
  • 6:30pm Marathon Sports’ RunClub is leaving from the market and are encouraging others to join them on a nice 3mile run from the park. Marathon Sports is also collecting your used sneakers to recycle, handing out coupons, and including a new pair of shoes to raffle off for our Friends of the Market campaign. Bowden Park Farmers Market loop

The Melrose Pedestrian and Bicycle Advisory Committee welcomes Melrose residents to bring their bikes to the market from 4-7pm for free basic bicycle repairs! They will check bikes for safety issues and perform basic adjustments. They don’t have spare parts (tubes, cables, chains) to fix larger issues but are happy to get your bike running a little safer and smoother. They can also answer questions and offer tips about bike safety and regular maintenance. There is only one slot left, please follow this link to sign up.

Looking for prepared dinner foods? We have La Qchara offering sweet and savory crepes, street tacos, chips and salsa, coffee and tea. The Bread Shop will offer up some freshly made grilled cheese sandwichs. Seven Hills Farmstead will have olive and sun dried tomato focaccia and some mini margherita focaccias (aka, pizza for the kids). Mr. Tamole has a delicious array of fresh tamales: vegetarian, meat, cocount and even a corn soup/cup of corn called esquite…it’s amazing.

You can also pick up some fresh pasta, fruits, vegetables and yummy treats from the market.

Stop by and help support your local market, farms, and small businesses. Remember, parking is tight, however we do have a little more parking available at the Trinity Church Lot, and as always we encourage you to walk/bike/run to the market.
